Melissa earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida in 2000. Her writing abilities were pointed out by various professors throughout her four year program.

Perfection was expected in all written assignments in her Psychology program. Within two weeks of graduating, Melissa began her three year Masters program. The program was through the College of Education and the specialization was in Mental Health Counseling. Melissa was required to use MLA and AP styles of writing. She was also required to write journal articles, a group counseling manual, and numerous, extensive papers. In addition, throughout her internship she was required to keep perfect files and write court related reports. Melissa graduated from USF in 2003 with a 3.98 GPA. Melissa was a wife and mother throughout her collegiate career. Melissa had a baby in 2003 and decided to work from home.
